San Marco

San Marco

San MarcoThe lovely Cathy called in to have a chat with the owner of this fairly new Fast Food place on Cowgate, Kirkintilloch and came out with another Raffle Prize for Memory Fest ’17!

So, to win a meal up to the value of £10 at San Marco, you need to buy some raffle tickets at the event on 30 April 2017 at Club Bliss – and then keep your fingers crossed.

The menu looks good, and reading the reviews on Just Eat it looks like everyone agrees too.

OK, who wants a fish supper?

Anything for the Weekend?

The Master Barber

The Master BarberHow about a professional Gent’s Hair Cut and Shave from The Master Barber on Alexandra Street in Kirkintilloch?

Scott and his team have over 16 years experience and this is clear from the reviews that you can read. Whether is is a traditional cut or maybe something more adventurous like a tribal design cut, you can be sure of being looked after very well in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Walk-in service is available, plus the on line appointment service, but for this special prize offer you will be better to call and arrange an appointment to make sure there is availability suitable for you!

Ghiloni’s in Kirkintilloch

Cafe Ghiloni's

Cafe Ghiloni'sNot one, but two five pound gift vouchers to be used at Cafe Ghiloni’s for food and drink! Yes, that is just one of the prizes donated for our Raffle at the Memory Fest ’17 event this month.

Based at 77, Townhead, Kirkintilloch, Ghiloni’s have a sit-in cafe where you can enjoy anything from an authentic Italian coffee to a freshly prepared main meal. In addition to this, they have a take-away ice-cream parlour where you can pop–in and enjoy the treats of the main menu on the go!

We believe they also offer home delivery too. So, if you want to enjoy a warm Ghiloni’s meal in the comfort of your home, then you can now have it delivered to your door! Just phone in between 5pm and 10pm, Monday to Sunday and you can have your favourite meals brought directly to you. (Best check that the vouchers can be used for this service before you order though – why not give them a call first on 0141 775 1158?)

Raise The Roof Charity Party

Raise The Roof Charity Party

Raise The Roof Charity PartyDid you know there is another event, supported by Home Instead Senior Care, taking place this month to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland?

It is being organised by Lisa, one of their carers and takes place at Hayston Golf Club in Kirkintilloch on 22 April from 7pm until late.

There will be a DJ, Raffles and some fabulous Auction prizes!

Tickets are £10 and include a buffet and tea from Katie’s Kitchen – Contact Lisa on 0754 763 4737 for more information and tickets.

(This event is not connected with Memory Fest ’17, we are just promoting another worthwhile event raising money for Alzheimer Scotland!)

Local Dementia Advisers

The money we raise at Memory Fest ’17 will only scratch the surface of what is required … they need £15,000 a day to fund their vital work. That’s not say they will not be really grateful to receive whatever we raise, whether it is £2, £2,000 or £20,000 (OK, I’m getting carried away, I know we won’t reach £20,000!).

With our help, Alzheimer Scotland aims to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. They provide support services and information for people with dementia, their families and friends throughout Scotland. They also campaign for the rights of people with dementia and carers.

Dementia HelplineA local Dementia Adviser can:

  • provide information and advice
  • help you find the dementia support that you need
  • connect you to local groups and services
  • help your local community be more dementia-friendly
  • help you influence the policies and services that affect you

They also provide a 24 hour Dementia Helpline this is a freephone Scottish service for people with dementia, carers, relatives, professionals, students and anyone concerned about dementia.

The number is on the image above, but if you are calling from an ex-directory number you should apparently dial 1470 before dialling the helpline number.

On Line Donations

Just Giving

Just GivingOnce again we have set up a Just Giving page, for people who are unable to attend the actual event, to leave donations for Alzheimer Scotland if they would like to.

This proved very useful last year and was a great boost to the funds raised on the evening of the event.

It is easy to do and the funds go directly to our chosen charity. You can even include Gift Aid to boost your donation at no extra cost to you!

We, and Alzheimer Scotland are very grateful for all donations received, no matter how small or large.

Thanks for those who have donated already and thanks to those who may be about to.

The Amused Owls

The Amused Owls

The Amused OwlsWe are very pleased that The Amused Owls have once again agreed to support Memory Fest and will be opening our evening of entertainment and fundraising at Club Bliss on Sunday, 30 April 2017.

For those of you that came along last year, we are sure you will remember the way they had the place rocking! We understand they have some new tunes in their set this year and we are looking forward to hearing what they are.

With Dan Welsh on Guitar and Vocals, Ross MacRae on Bass, Tom Young on Drums and John McKie on Guitar, Keyboards and Vocals we are sure they will have your feet tapping if not actually get you up on the dance floor!

The Posters Are Here

Memory Fest '17 Poster

Memory Fest '17 PosterThe new posters arrived on Friday night and we will be distributing them for display as soon as possible.

We have a few locations for them already sorted out, however if you can display one for us, then please get in touch and we will drop one off for you.

Remember the more people that see the posters, the bigger the audience we could have at Club Bliss and the more money we can raise for Alzheimer Scotland!

Two great bands giving up their time, free of charge, for Memory Fest ’17 and performing for us on 30 April 2017 – it is going to be another great night!
