No, its OK, we haven’t made a typo, we did actually mean to title this article Mugstock 2016!

You see, the organisers of this festival of music and merriment known as Mugstock 2016 have very kindly provided us with not one but two weekend tickets to their event which takes place on another Bank Holiday, 29-31 July 2016. This is a huge prize, each ticket has a face value of £75.

The image to the right shows some of the stats from last year and 2016 is set to be even bigger!

So you can still come to our Memory Fest ’16, which is taking place on this next Bank Holiday Sunday and, if you are lucky whilst you are there you can win these tickets to go to Mugstock 2016 as well!

Even if you don’t win the tickets (and only one person can win) it is seriously worth going to Mugstock for a weekend of great entertainment, check out their ticket prices.

Alzheimer Scotland Dementia UK Donations Memory Fest '16 Silent Auction Social Media Sponsors No Comments

As I teased on Facebook earlier this week, we can now confirm that Memory Fest have been given a fantastic item to help us raise more money for our chosen charities, Dementia UK and Alzheimer Scotland.

BLG Video & Audio Productions, the people that will be filming our event, have donated one of their Wedding Packages. Not just any one of them though, their top package! The Gold Package is valued at £850 and is described as the package to choose if ‘you require every possible moment of your special day captured‘ – have a look at their website for full details (unfortunately the offer is only available to ceremonies taking place in Scotland and the North of England)

This is an amazing opportunity for a lucky couple to obtain a fantastic memento of their special day and help our great cause at the same time.

From today until 12 noon on 1st May 2016 you will be able to bid by email to win this fabulous gift. We have set up a special email address, weddingvideo@memoryfest.co.uk for you to use and we will monitor this address for the next couple of weeks to see what bids we receive. You can also make a bid on the evening of the event at Club Bliss between 7:30 pm and around 10 pm when we will make the announcement to let you know who the highest bidder has been and who has won this auction.

Who is this? What is her (or his) name?

You will have the chance to guess the Monkey’s name at Memory Fest ’16, we will be running this like a ‘football card’. One of our Team will be coming around the tables offering everyone the chance to join in.

For only £2 you can choose one of the 96 names on the card. At the end of the night we will reveal the name and the person who has chosen the correct name will walk away with £42 with remainder of the pot going to our two charities, Dementia UK and Alzheimer Scotland.

Thanks to Elinor who kindly donated Miss, Mrs or Mr Monkey (Note: Guinness Glass and Sky Remote Control not included!).

It happens to us all at some point, we get hungry!

Well if it happens to you at Memory Fest ’16 then don’t worry! Club Bliss have agreed to open their kitchen and serve their usual menu for anyone that is interested.

They have a great selection of tasty snacks, with prices between £2.50 and £5.90. So if you fancy a cheese & pickle toastie or a chicken curry with rice you order it. Maybe a vegetable pakora, pasta bolognese, nachos or just a few chips, it’s your choice.

Do you know what the added benefit is? Club Bliss have agreed to donate a percentage of the money spent on food at Memory Fest to our Charities – how good is that? So, come hungry and you will be helping us even more!

We are looking to raise a lot of money through Memory Fest and we appreciate all of the help we are receiving.

We think its important to grasp what even small amounts can do to help though – making it real, if you like. So we will be having a few of these type of posts over the coming months just to give some example of how money raised might be spent and what the benefits are.

“Did you know that £25 could pay for a day’s costs for one of Alzheimer Scotland’s mobile information vehicles to raise awareness of dementia and bring information on the condition to local communities.”

Morning everyone

Hope you all had a great weekend! February already, can’t believe how quickly the time is moving (is that a sign I am getting old, I wonder?)

I’ve had quite an exciting weekend with the ‘launch’ or at least announcement that Memory Fest will be happening this year! OK, I know you are thinking, what is Memory Fest?

Well, it’s an idea that I had last year, 2015, and it is finally coming to life, I hope I don’t bore you all with it over the next 3 months.

I am organising, with help from a team of like minded people, a Live Music Gig at Club Bliss in Kirkintilloch on 1st May 2016 – raising awareness and much needed funds for Dementia UK and Alzheimer Scotland through Classic Rock!

We will have two live Bands on the evening, with some other potentially very interesting activities planned to go along side and during the intervals.

Our Facebook page is live now, if you have time please have a look at it and maybe share it amongst your ‘friends’. The more support we receive the more funds we can raise. Oh yes, there is a Twitter thingy too, but not sure how much this will be used.

I realise that not everyone will be able to come along on the night and so have also organised online fundraising through Just Giving so that people can pledge on line (I think it is also possible to set up a text donation facility too but I haven’t got that sorted yet!).

There is still a lot of planning to do yet but wanted to let you guys know sooner rather than later so hopefully you can get the date in your diary.

Alzheimer Scotland Charity Dementia UK Donations Just Giving Memory Fest '16 No Comments

Some of our friends have commented that, as well as coming along on 1 May 2016 to the Live Event, they would like to make a donation before then however would prefer to donate to only one of the Charities that we are working with, rather than having their donations being split between the two.

This is perfectly acceptable, of course, and to make it easier for your we have set up our Just Giving Fundraising Pages, one for Dementia UK and one for Alzheimer Scotland – both accessible through our Memory Fest Team page
