Ooh, More Prizes!

Last Few Prizes

Last Few PrizesThanks to Alan and Louise for this latest Raffle prize donation. A lovely bottle of Vodka for some lucky winner to enjoy.

Sure, I should put some disclaimer on here too, something like over 18’s only and drink responsibly, that kind of thing.

Also to Elinor for this Wacky Wobbler! I’m sure this is a collectable and someone will be happy to win this, eiher for themselves or for some DC Comics enthusiast!

What about some Eau de Whatsit? Lovely smelly stuff for someone to win – thanks again to Elinor for this one!

So, what are you waiting for, get along tonight and buy your tickets – only £2 a strip!

Club Bliss – The Venue

Our Hosts - Club Bliss

Our Hosts - Club BlissWe did look around at alternative venues for Memory Fest ’17 however Club Bliss was still the venue of choice for our supporters and the bands that will be playing on the evening.

Ryan and his team have promised to look after us again this year and make it a night to remember.

But, why not look at the other events they have on? There is always something good to  look forward to, they really are the go to venue for live music in Kirkintilloch.

The Scottish Pink Floyd, Clyde 1’s Michael Smith, Zander Nation, The Complete Stone Roses, George Bowie, Hells Bells are just some of the great names that have preformed or are due to perform at the Club – keep an eye out to see who will be next!

San Marco

San Marco

San MarcoThe lovely Cathy called in to have a chat with the owner of this fairly new Fast Food place on Cowgate, Kirkintilloch and came out with another Raffle Prize for Memory Fest ’17!

So, to win a meal up to the value of £10 at San Marco, you need to buy some raffle tickets at the event on 30 April 2017 at Club Bliss – and then keep your fingers crossed.

The menu looks good, and reading the reviews on Just Eat it looks like everyone agrees too.

OK, who wants a fish supper?

The Amused Owls

The Amused Owls

The Amused OwlsWe are very pleased that The Amused Owls have once again agreed to support Memory Fest and will be opening our evening of entertainment and fundraising at Club Bliss on Sunday, 30 April 2017.

For those of you that came along last year, we are sure you will remember the way they had the place rocking! We understand they have some new tunes in their set this year and we are looking forward to hearing what they are.

With Dan Welsh on Guitar and Vocals, Ross MacRae on Bass, Tom Young on Drums and John McKie on Guitar, Keyboards and Vocals we are sure they will have your feet tapping if not actually get you up on the dance floor!

The Posters Are Here

Memory Fest '17 Poster

Memory Fest '17 PosterThe new posters arrived on Friday night and we will be distributing them for display as soon as possible.

We have a few locations for them already sorted out, however if you can display one for us, then please get in touch and we will drop one off for you.

Remember the more people that see the posters, the bigger the audience we could have at Club Bliss and the more money we can raise for Alzheimer Scotland!

Two great bands giving up their time, free of charge, for Memory Fest ’17 and performing for us on 30 April 2017 – it is going to be another great night!

Evolution!

Evolution

Evolution

Last year, we had R.is.E., this year the great band Evolution will be rocking us towards closing time. You can read more about them on their page here or why not go and ‘like’ them on their Facebook page?

The line up of the band is:

  • Vocals/Rhythm Guitar – Stewart Carrol
  • Lead Guitar – Ross Easdon
  • Bass Guitar – James Inglis
  • Drums – Kevin Fitzpatrick

We hope to be able to get some more information about each member of the band and share that with you very soon.

A Massive Thanks!

Thank YouYes, we mean it, a massive thanks to each and everyone of you that support the first Memory Fest gig last night at Club Bliss.

We said we wanted to raise awareness and funds through Classic Rock for Dementia UK and Alzheimer Scotland and that’s just what we did!

The Bands were just great, The Amused Owls opening the show followed by two sets from R.is.E.

The raffle took a little (OK, a lot) longer than we expected, but we got there in end and I know everyone was very pleased with their prizes.

We even found out, through winner John Rodger, that Monkey was called George! John very kindly donated the prize money and Monkey, sorry, George, back to Memory Fest and so we had to find someone else willing to give him a home (that’s George not John!). This we did before, the end of the night, and lucky George went home with Ruth who gave us a lovely donation for the pleasure.

The winning bid in the auction for the Wedding Video was one that we had received on line and we have been in touch with the lady who made that bid today to let her know that she has been successful. We are just waiting for her to confirm her full details and then we can make the necessary arrangements.

At the opening of the event we only had one victim, sorry, volunteer for the waxing however when we announced it was taking place, Claire and Claire ended up with a queue of people wanting to join in. Thanks to all those involved for being game and joining in.

Cathy, Lisa, Sammi and Carl worked brilliantly together looking after the raffle tickets, the Monkey card, and the silent auctions. We had Suhail, from Home Instead Senior Care, on the door taking your tickets or selling you some if you didn’t already have one. Bernie, of Sweeney’s Shutter fame was amazing taking photos all night and of course, Richard from BLG Video and Audio productions, who set up and operated three video cameras throughout the event. What a great team of people pulling together!

Thanks to sponsors, Home Instead Senior Care and Aon. Thanks to all of the individuals and companies that donated prizes for our raffle. Especially thanks to our wonderful audience who came along, dug deep in to their pockets and helped us to raise £1,494.53 so far (there are still some funds to come in that we haven’t included yet). We are truly grateful to everyone, thank you , thank you, thank you!
